In 1998, the founding chairman of our association, Timothy Irish, created it in order to give everyone the opportunity to meet new people and share ideas in a constructive manner. The Association quickly turned into an important part of our members' lives!
In 1998, with the support and financial help of the Salt Lake Organizing Committee (SLOC) for the Olympic Winter Games of 2002, The Ogden Curling Club was founded. In 1999 club members volunteered for various training classes to gain certifications required by the United State Curling Association (USCA) to become certified officials for the upcoming national events. In preparations for the Olympic Games the Ogden Curling Club hosted the March of 2000, hosted the US National Curling Championship in March 2002, World Juniors Curling Championship in March 2001, and the US Olympic Curling Team Trials in December 2001. Following those events we knew we were ready for the BIG event. In partnership with the Weber County Sports Complex, the 2002 Salt Lake Organizing Committee, and the International Olympic Committee the Ogden Curling Club hosted the 2002 Winter Olympic Curling event.
Even though the 2002 Winter Olympics are in the past, the Ogden Curling Club is still going strong. Our club is made up of both new and veteran curlers and we are continuously working towards making a positive impact to the local community. Additionally, our club aims to develop the capabilities of amateur athletes in order to participate and support local amateur, state, national, international, and Olympic competition within the game of curling.
